JAR3Joel Arthur Rosenthal, aka JAR, is shrouded in mystery. Rumors and outrageous anecdotes about the reclusive Paris-based American jeweler abound. Some say he is rude and abrasive, others say he’s a genius. HENRY MOORE AT THE RIJKSMUSEUM

HenryMoore3The newly restored Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam will be opening an exhibition of Henry Moore (1898- 1986) sculptures in its beautiful new gardens tomorrow, June 22nd. The exhibition, which is free to the public, is the start of a fantastic new initiative, whereby the museum will host a different international sculpture collection each summer for the next five years.  Continue reading

NATURE INPIRES: BUTTERFLY BOUNTY

Butterfly2In the series ‘Nature inspires’ it’s only right to include our fascination with butterflies, whether in fashion, art or interiors. A few weeks ago I was in Amsterdam’s Cornelis Schuytstraat (still the first place I go to when heading to the city, thanks to the great lunch rooms, boutiques and easy access and parking!!), when I passed by florist extraordinaire Menno Kroon and saw a selection of gorgeous flower pots decorated with butterflies. I am a great admirer of Australian photographer Simon Upton’s work. He’s responsible for some of the most gorgeous images I have come across in Elle Decor (my favourite interior design magazine).
