DESIGN CRUSH: RALPH LAUREN’S COLORADO RANCH

RL- Double RL Ranch Blue Pony guest cabinHe’s the king of aspirational living. The boy from the Bronx that made good and is now living the very life he dreamed up. Ralph Lauren is the embodiment of the American Dream. Unless you’ve been living under a rock – and might I presume that if you’re reading this you have not! – you all know the story of how this ordinary man with an extraordinary gift created a fashion and interiors empire from little more than a collection of ties.  Continue reading

DESIGN CRUSH: JOSEPH DIRAND

MonsieurBleubarA few weeks ago, on a quick family visit to Paris, I met up with some great Brazilian friends (who always seem to know the best places to go) with whom I had dinner at the fabulous Monsieur Bleu restaurant. Situated in the Palais de Tokyo, Paris’ edgiest contemporary art venue, Monsieur Bleu was designed by the award-winning French architect Joseph Dirand.  Continue reading

Entrance to Wolterinck’s World in Laren

If you are ever in the area, and haven’t done so yet, take the time to visit Wolterinck’s World in Laren. For you non-Dutchies, it might prove a treck, but a very worthwhile one, I assure you. A friend of mine took me there just yesterday and I was bowled over the scope, serenity and beauty of the building, its interiors and, in particular, its exteriors.  Continue reading

DESIGN CRUSH: JACQUES GRANGE

JacquesGrange3I am completely infatuated with Jacques Grange’s style. This designer’s ability to move seamlessly from classic to contemporary interiors and imbue each with a sense of timelessness is uncanny. He delivers both with verve, and I admire his balance when it comes to colour as well. There is neither nor too little of it, something you don’t see that often. Opulent, eclectic, minimalist chic – he does it all.  Continue reading
