STYLE CRUSH: KATE MOSS

Kate2In case you missed it, Kate Moss turned the big 4-0 this month. And my God, does that woman age well!! How is it possible that I have given up smoking, don’t drink a drop of alcohol, don’t do drugs and eat quite healthily, and I look the way I do (not fabulous, no matter how much coverup I apply) and she can live a hard-partying, rockstar lifestyle for more than half her life and look as fabulous as she does? It blows my mind!

When I was still writing for FashionUnited Magazine, I had a monthly column. I spent one of them dissecting the mythical beauty that is Kate Moss. At the time, I just didn’t get it. She certainly is not a conventional beauty: snaggle-toothed with very wide-spread eyes and knobbly knees. It just didn’t compute. However, now that she’s older, I see it. There is a mystery about her that is incredibly appealing. And her personal style is, and always has been, undeniably and effortlessly chic in a rock-chick kind of way. I am truly in awe.

I could fill post upon post with pictures and theories about the great Kate Moss. Unfortunately, that might end up being a bit tedious, so I’ve had to limit myself to a few of my favorite of her looks. Happy belated birthday to Kate. May she keep inspiring us! Enjoy!
