TOYS FOR GIRLS

There’s something you need to know about me. When I’m not scouring the various media for fashion and interior inspiration or reporting on the business of fashion, I am busy being a mother to twin six-year-old boys who are obsessed with Lego. In the past year or so, I have become extremely well-versed in the world of Lego Chima and Lego Star Wars and have built my fair share of space ships, forts and fantastical vehicles and figurines.

Not surprisingly, these never captured my imagination quite like my boys’. That is, until I finally sat down with the March 2014 issue of Harper’s Bazaar (a little late, I know) and saw that the magazine had collaborated with Lego to create four designer figurines, in honor of The Lego Movie (which I managed to sleep through!). There they were: Karl Lagerfeld, Donatella Versace, Alber Elbaz and Marc Jacobs in all their plastic, primary-colored glory! Genius! I really hope these come on the market. In the meantime, I’ve also included some awesome ways fashion has incorporated these nifty little building blocks. Watch out boys, mommy wants to play too!
